Let’s Do This
That’s Kimberly, Lucy, Me, Adam and Jill.
We’re as ready as we’ll ever be for 2 performances of SNIPPED! – the Non-Cutting Edge original musical we’ve been working on for the past 5 years.
Just landed in NYC. The prop baby wouldn’t fit in my carry on so I stuffed her (actually him) in my backpack. She didn’t quite fit. Obviously. Yes, a few people asked.
We’ve have a few readings in LA. You might have heard about them.
Because I told you. 😃
We’ve been working with a gifted Director in Richard Israel.
Got ourselves Musical Theatre Management who handle logistics, schedules, invites.
A Casting Agent who sent us marvels of talent to consider.
Spent hours, days even, watching videos, listening to voices. I mean. It’s sick. Good sick. Broadway actors are insanely gifted. I can’t even.
I CAN NOT wait to see Jenna Lee Rosen and Max Chernin bring our story to life.
Adam’s been in the studio for weeks transcribing lead sheets. He refused to employ AI’s help … which, with more than a few mistakes, could have done the job in a fraction of the time. I get it … that decision. Principle.
We’ve tweaked the book. And tweaked. And tweaked.
Rewritten lyrics over and over.
Then tweaked the book again.
Then rewrote lyrics again.
Killed some darlings. Darlings being, some of my favorite songs that simply weren’t “moving the story forward” and had to go. 😩 Painful!
I’ve learned a lot.
I’m full of wonder. That’s the best part.
They say it takes 10 years to get a musical off the ground.
Life is short.
Shorter every day.
I think I said that already.
Time to see if this baby has some Broadway-adjacent legs.
So let’s do this.
But first, let’s have that NYC slice.
