Grammy Time

Hello Friends and Grammy Voters. Some of you are both :)

Let me first say right up front that I am not using chatGPT to write this. 😃

Here’s what’s up.

It appears that the re-imagining of “What a Girl Wants,” performed by Christina Aguilera and Sabrina Carpenter for Spotify’s 25th Anniversary is ‘nominat-able’ in the category of Best Pop Duo or Group Performance for the 2026 Grammy Awards.

If you haven’t heard it, it’s quite special (if I do say so myself 😳) and as a co-writer (along with my longtime go-to collaborator Guy Roche), it’s a thrill to have had these two powerhouse songstresses from two completely different generations bring it back into the spotlight with the soulful accompaniment of superb LIVE musicians.

Hits come and go so quickly these days and though I wouldn’t receive the nomination myself (it would go to the performers) it would bring THIS songwriter great pride to witness her song continue to thrive — another chapter in its long life.

If you are a voting member of the Recording Academy I hope you listen to the track and if it makes you happy please consider checking the box next to “What A Girl Wants” as one of the 5 nominees in Best Pop Duo or Group Performance.

With gratitude,

Shelly
